Secara garis besar, buku ini menguraikan tentang tinjauan rayap sebagai salah satu jenis serangga dalam beragam aspek, yaitu biologi, taksonomi, ekologi, pencegahan dan pengendaliannya, serta teknik pengujian kayu terhadap serangan rayap. Buku ini diharapkan dapat menunjang kegiatan pembalajaran peserta didik secara mandiri, dengan berbasis pada Student Centered Learning (SCL). Buku ini merupakan pendukung bagi pengembangan materi perkuliahan Matakuliah Termitologi (Mirmelogi), dimana setelah mengikuti matakuliah tersebut peserta didik diharapkan dapat mengaplikasikan ipteks bidang kehutanan dalam pembinaan hutan dan hasil hutan. Materi yang disajikan dalam buku ajar ini dimaksudkan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan kemandirian mahasiswa dalam belajar.
